What would you do if your boss was like this?

I feel a little curious since I've been seeing trailers for "Horrible Bosses" and been reflecting on my last employer, my first boss was not very full of praise except for his group of favorites, he expected us to kiss his butt, he was very cold to me, and was not helpful. He also showed a general lack of interest in anything I did, I could tell he didn't care about my thoughts, concerns, or ideas. He also got on my bad side once really badly. What happened in that situation is that he was supervising a small committee consisting of myself and two co-workers. We were putting together an event and had to do advertising and to prepare and be a team player, I made flyers, posters, signs, and a giant banner. It was a St. Patrick's Day event and I had to draw a Four Leaf Clover and he looked at all of them, laughed and said "that is the worst four leaf clover I have ever seen, it looks like a disfigured hand" and got the other two laughing at the hard work I put in. If he didn't like it, he could have said it better. He also had a tendency to take the side of those he favorited, one in particular, that had a strong dislike of me for some reason. How would you work for this type of person?
